Izaak Stern is on a journey across musical tangents, where nothing is prescribed and nothing is certain. With an experimental modus operandi (which often
results unconsciously in an “experimental” end product), the producer views beatmaking as an exploratory process.
Izaak Stern’s sound is constantly evolving from the humble confines of his bedroom, as exploration also means constant education. Any release that
will follow this EP will very likely sound substantially disparate, and the same applies
for any body of work that follows.
In the vein of Prefuse 73, Burial and Flying Lotus, Izaak Stern always attempts
juxtapositions between analog and digital elements. By working with both an with
laptop-based instruments, live instruments, analogue synthesizers and very importantly, samples from dusty vinyl records, Izaak Stern’s approach involves a nosedive into whatever works to secure specific sounds.
Signed to Qilin in 2009, the ever-evolving sound of Izaak Stern has joined the ranks
of drum ‘n’ bass and electronica producers spanning the globe. The producer’s
faceless emergence from the depths of the underground brings an experimental
flavour that the New York Post says “will leave you cotton-mouthed for more.”
